In 2022, the average smoked herring export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 16% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cameroon (+22.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of smoked herrings increased by 83% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
