Iraq (X tons) was the main destination for soups exports from Turkey, accounting for a 35% share of total exports. Moreover, soups exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq totaled +22.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-1.1% per year) and Germany (+10.8% per year).
In value terms, Iraq ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for soups exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports. The United States, Somalia, Venezuela, Lebanon, Iran, Azerbaijan, Albania, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
Venezuela, with a CAGR of +501.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average soups export price amounted to $X per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Venezuela (+29.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Turkey
In 2021, supplies from abroad of soups and broths was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight decline. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, soups imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of soups imports to Turkey, with a combined 61% share of total imports. China, Iraq, Spain, Iran, Italy, the UK and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of +1,174.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest soups suppliers to Turkey, together comprising 63% of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, China, Iraq, Spain, Iran, the UK and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Iran, with a CAGR of +1,099.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average soups import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, soups import price increased by +53.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 48%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Equatorial Guinea (+41.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
