Syringe Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish syringe market surged to $X in 2022, growing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the total consumption indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. In 2022, approx. X units of syringes, with or without needles were exported from Turkey; waning by -31.3% on the previous year. In general, exports recorded a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 167% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, syringe exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 185%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Iraq (X units), Moldova (X units) and Turkmenistan (X units) were the main destinations of syringe exports from Turkey, together accounting for 30% of total exports. Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, Germany, Greece, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Libya, Poland and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 51%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +145.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for syringe exported from Turkey were Germany ($X), Iraq ($X) and Moldova ($X), with a combined 28% share of total exports. France, Georgia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Poland, Greece, Azerbaijan, Romania, Algeria and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

France, with a CAGR of +136.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average syringe export price stood at $X per thousand units in 2022, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of syringes, with or without needles, when their volume increased by 23% to X units. Over the period under review, imports posted a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 51%. Imports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, syringe imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +21.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Hungary (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of syringe imports to Turkey, together comprising 60% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +34.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Hungary ($X) constituted the largest supplier of syringes, with or without needles to Turkey, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with an 11% share.

Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, syringe import price increased by +46.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 84%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
