Concrete Tile Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish concrete tile market dropped to $X in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, consumption showed a buoyant expansion. Concrete tile consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Concrete Tile Production in Turkey

In value terms, concrete tile production shrank sharply to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 68%. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Turkey

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone decreased by -11.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, concrete tile exports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Israel (X tons) was the main destination for concrete tile exports from Turkey, accounting for a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, concrete tile exports to Israel exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Georgia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Bulgaria (X tons), with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Israel amounted to +56.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Georgia (+16.1% per year) and Bulgaria (+22.2% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for concrete tile exported from Turkey were Israel ($X), the United States ($X) and Georgia ($X), together accounting for 56% of total exports. Bulgaria, Italy, Iraq, Romania, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Russia and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +50.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average concrete tile export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey

In 2022, supplies from abroad of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by 23% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 46%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concrete tile imports reached $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Israel (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of concrete tile to Turkey, accounting for a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete tile imports from Israel exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. Slovakia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Israel stood at +46.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+70.3% per year) and Slovakia (+100.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest concrete tile suppliers to Turkey were Slovakia ($X), Spain ($X) and Israel ($X), with a combined 96% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +89.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average concrete tile import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -18.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
