Exports from Turkey
In 2022, overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages increased by 31% to X litres, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X litres), Cyprus (X litres) and Iraq (X litres) were the main destinations of exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Turkey, together comprising 74% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, the Netherlands, the UK, Austria, France and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +68.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages increased by 76% to X litres, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 77%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X litres), Italy (X litres) and Poland (X litres) were the main suppliers of imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Turkey, together accounting for 45% of total imports. These countries were followed by Sweden, Germany, the UK, France, Ireland, Ukraine, Spain, Belgium, Cyprus and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 46%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +56.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constituted the largest supplier of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Turkey, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Sweden, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Mexico amounted to +15.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+14.7% per year) and Sweden (-0.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X per litre, shrinking by -11.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 21%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per litre), while the price for Belarus ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
