In value terms, amine-function compounds exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Canada (X tons), Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main destinations of amine-function compounds exports from the United States, with a combined 41% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, China, Brazil, Singapore, Mexico, the Netherlands, India, Turkey, Taiwan (Chinese) and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 49%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of +3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for amine-function compounds exported from the United States were Canada ($X), Japan ($X) and South Korea ($X), together comprising 40% of total exports.

Overall, total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, amine-function compounds imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of amine-function compounds imports to the United States, with a combined 53% share of total imports. The UK, India, Japan, the Philippines, Portugal, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +85.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of amine-function compounds to the United States, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+5.3% per year) and Germany (+0.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average amine-function compounds import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -4.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 8% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the price for Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
