In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aramids staple imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of aramids staple imports to the United States, together comprising 68% of total imports. Thailand, Spain, Japan, Belgium and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +124.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
