In 2022, overseas purchases of babies clothing and accessories (not knitted or crocheted) increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after seven years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby clothes imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible contraction. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Bangladesh (X tons), China (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of baby clothes imports to the United States, with a combined 72% share of total imports. India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +14.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
