The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, electric board, desk and panel exports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Canada (X units), Mexico (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of electric board, desk and panel exports from the United States, with a combined 85% share of total exports.

In 2021, overseas purchases of electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets were finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric board, desk and panel imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Thailand (X units), China (X units) and the Philippines (X units) were the main suppliers of electric board, desk and panel imports to the United States, with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Mexico, France, Slovakia, Taiwan (Chinese), Spain, Canada, Germany, India, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 46%.
