Off-Highway Dumper Market Size in the U.S.

In 2021, the U.S. off-highway dumper market increased by 1.9% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption showed a buoyant increase. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, approx. X units of dumpers for off-highway use were exported from the United States; growing by 10% against the year before. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, off-highway dumper exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 92%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Australia (X units), Canada (X units) and Chile (X units) were the main destinations of off-highway dumper exports from the United States, with a combined 58% share of total exports. Peru, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, Mexico, India and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of -0.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average off-highway dumper export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 27%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were China ($X per unit) and India ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Peru ($X per unit) and Chile ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

Imports into the U.S.

In 2021, imports of dumpers for off-highway use into the United States soared to X units, growing by 38% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible setback. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, off-highway dumper imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -14.6% against 2019 indices. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the UK (X units) constituted the largest supplier of off-highway dumper to the United States, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, off-highway dumper imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X units), twofold. Sweden (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the UK totaled -4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-6.5% per year) and Sweden (-8.5% per year).

In 2021, the average off-highway dumper import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, off-highway dumper import price decreased by -3.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 79%.
