Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electric locomotive imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a moderate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 1,217% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Italy (X units), Germany (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main suppliers of electric locomotive imports to the United States, with a combined 88% share of total imports.
