Mexico (X pairs), Peru (X pairs) and Canada (X pairs) were the main destinations of gloves exports from the United States, with a combined 2.5% share of total exports. Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia, China, Guyana, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 1.5%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for El Salvador (with a CAGR of +65.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for gloves, mittens and mitts (excluding knitted or crocheted) exports from the United States, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada totaled +3.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+31.5% per year) and Mexico (+5.5% per year).

In 2021, the average gloves export price amounted to $X per pair, which is down by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per pair. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

For the third consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of gloves, mittens and mitts (excluding knitted or crocheted), which increased by 25% to X pairs in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, gloves imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X pairs), Vietnam (X pairs) and Pakistan (X pairs) were the main suppliers of gloves imports to the United States, together comprising 13% of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Honduras, which together accounted for a further 3.6%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +77.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of gloves, mittens and mitts (excluding knitted or crocheted) to the United States, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at -2.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+4.9% per year) and Pakistan (-1.0% per year).
