Canada (X tons) was the main destination for gummed paper exports from the United States, with a 50% share of total exports. Moreover, gummed paper exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the UK (X tons), with a 10% share.

The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 7.8% share.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of gummed paper and paperboard (excluding self-adhesives), when their volume increased by 15% to X tons. Overall, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -12.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, gummed paper imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Canada (X tons) constituted the largest gummed paper supplier to the United States, accounting for a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, gummed paper imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X tons), with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada stood at +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+29.5% per year) and Italy (+45.7% per year).

The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 3.2% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Canada stood at -2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+36.4% per year) and South Korea (+27.3% per year).
