The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 9.9% against the previous year. In 2021, Mexico (X tons) was the main hydrogen fluoride supplier to the United States, with a 91% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan (X tons), with a 2.2% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Mexico stood at -2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+6.3% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+51.3% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constituted the largest supplier of hydrogen fluoride (hydrofluoric acid) to the United States, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 2.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Mexico amounted to -2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+47.5% per year) and Japan (+4.1% per year).
