The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Sweden (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of tall oil fatty acids exports from the United States, together comprising 38% of total exports. In value terms, tall oil fatty acids imports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 209%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the main suppliers of tall oil fatty acids imports to the United States, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +49.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest tall oil fatty acids suppliers to the United States were the Netherlands ($X), Sweden ($X) and Finland ($X), together comprising 87% of total imports.
