Motorised Invalid Carriage Market Size in the U.S.

The U.S. motorised invalid carriage market rose significantly to $X in 2021, increasing by 10% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Motorised invalid carriage consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In general, exports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, motorised invalid carriage exports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Canada (X units), Australia (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main destinations of motorised invalid carriage exports from the United States, together comprising 60% of total exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, Argentina, New Zealand, Italy, Germany, Russia, Belgium, Finland, Brazil and Japan, which together accounted for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +131.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for motorised invalid carriage exported from the United States were Canada ($X), Australia ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 64% of total exports. New Zealand, Mexico, Japan, Italy, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Belgium, Brazil and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +88.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average motorised invalid carriage export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the U.S.

In 2021, the amount of invalid carriages motorised or mechanically propelled imported into the United States skyrocketed to X units, surging by 17% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, motorised invalid carriage imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest motorised invalid carriage supplier to the United States, with a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, motorised invalid carriage imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), more than tenfold.
