Exports by Country
Canada (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of paper label exports from the United States, together accounting for 76% of total exports. China, India and Honduras lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Canada ($X) and China ($X) were the largest markets for paper label exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 68% share of total exports. These countries were followed by India, the Dominican Republic and Honduras, which together accounted for a further 6.3%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +7.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average paper label export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 5.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 6% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the U.S.
In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of labels of paper or paperboard, when their volume increased by 19% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, paper label imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Canada (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of paper label imports to the United States, together accounting for 83% of total imports. Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), the UK and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.9%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +27.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest paper label suppliers to the United States were Canada ($X), Mexico ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Vietnam, the UK, Taiwan (Chinese) and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.1%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +25.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average paper label import price amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 6.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
