In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the U.S. paper label market, when its value decreased by -7.1% to $X. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Canada (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of paper label exports from the United States, together accounting for 76% of total exports. China, India and Honduras lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.2%.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, paper label imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
