In value terms, goat meat exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Cayman Islands (X tons), Antigua and Barbuda (X tons) and Bahamas (X tons) were the main destinations of goat meat exports from the United States, together accounting for 78% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Antigua and Barbuda (with a CAGR of +30.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Cayman Islands ($X), Bahamas ($X) and Antigua and Barbuda ($X) constituted the largest markets for goat meat exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 68% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Antigua and Barbuda, with a CAGR of +24.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the U.S.
Goat meat imports into the United States rose rapidly to X tons in 2022, growing by 10% on the previous year. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +113.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, goat meat imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Australia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of goat meat to the United States, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, goat meat imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (X tons), ninefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Australia amounted to +1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+34.7% per year) and New Zealand (+5.6% per year).
In value terms, Australia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of goat meat to the United States, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 10% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Australia amounted to +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+38.2% per year) and New Zealand (+9.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average goat meat import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, goat meat import price decreased by -7.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while the price for Australia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
