Motor Boat Market Size in the U.S.

The U.S. motor boat market declined slightly to $X in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, motor boat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Canada (X units), Bahamas (X units) and Australia (X units) were the main destinations of motor boat exports from the United States, together accounting for 83% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bahamas (with a CAGR of +70.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports exports from the United States, comprising 52% of total exports. In general, imports posted buoyant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, motor boat imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Mexico (X units) constituted the largest motor boat supplier to the United States, accounting for a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, motor boat imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Canada (X units), threefold. Italy (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Mexico stood at +27.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Canada (+19.4% per year) and Italy (+2.4% per year).

The average motor boat import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -54% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 28% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit), while the price for Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
