In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the U.S. non-domestic dryer market, when its value decreased by -6.3% to $X. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +23.8% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
Non-Domestic Dryer Production in the U.S.
In value terms, non-domestic dryer production fell to $X in 2021. Overall, the total production indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +61.2% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of non-domestic dryers, when their volume increased by 12% to X units. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 386% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a slight slump. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Mexico (X units), Spain (X units) and Canada (X units) were the main destinations of non-domestic dryer exports from the United States, with a combined 3% share of total exports. The UK, Italy, Ireland, Brazil, Germany, China and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 0.8%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +63.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for non-domestic dryer exported from the United States were Canada ($X), Mexico ($X) and Ireland ($X), together comprising 50% of total exports.
Ireland, with a CAGR of +61.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average non-domestic dryer export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 313%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+33.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Non-Domestic Dryer Imports
Imports into the U.S.
In 2021, non-domestic dryer imports into the United States expanded remarkably to X units, with an increase of 6.7% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +49.7% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. Imports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports rose to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -14.9% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of non-domestic dryer to the United States, accounting for a 0.6% share of total imports. Moreover, non-domestic dryer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X units), threefold. Italy (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 0.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -8.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-15.0% per year) and Italy (-8.9% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and South Korea ($X) appeared to be the largest non-domestic dryer suppliers to the United States, with a combined 43% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Canada, the UK, China, Thailand and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +39.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-domestic dryer import price amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -3.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
