In value terms, octyl alcohol exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Mexico (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of octyl alcohol exports from the United States, together accounting for 65% of total exports. Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Turkey, China, the Netherlands and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

In 2022, overseas purchases of octanol (octyl alcohol) and isomers thereof decreased by -11.6% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 79%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, octyl alcohol imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 135%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of octyl alcohol imports to the United States, together comprising 85% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +107.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
