Brazil (X tons) was the main destination for phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports from the United States, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports to Brazil exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Brazil stood at -4.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+5.4% per year) and Germany (+15.8% per year).
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the key foreign market for phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports from the United States, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Canada ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 5.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Brazil amounted to -2.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+1.3% per year) and Germany (+2.5% per year).

In 2021, the amount of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imported into the United States contracted significantly to X tons, dropping by -16.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 53%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) constituted the largest phosphorus, arsenic and selenium supplier to the United States, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imports from Kazakhstan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (X tons), with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Kazakhstan amounted to +6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+8.6% per year) and China (-12.2% per year).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium to the United States, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 4.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Kazakhstan amounted to +4.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+10.2% per year) and Germany (-20.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
