Imports into the U.S.
Deformed non-alloy steel wire rod imports into the United States surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 182% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, deformed non-alloy steel wire rod imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of deformed non-alloy steel wire rod imports to the United States, together accounting for 76% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mexico (with a CAGR of +155.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
