In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the U.S.
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of roasted molybdenum ores and concentrateses, when their volume decreased by -29.3% to X tons. Overall, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 68% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 152%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates supplier to the United States, with a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), more than tenfold.
