For the eighth consecutive year, the U.S. bed-convertible seat market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 1.2% to $X in 2021. Overall, the total consumption indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last nine years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 46%. The exports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bed-convertible seat exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 52%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Canada (X units) was the main destination for bed-convertible seat exports from the United States, with a 81% share of total exports. Moreover, bed-convertible seat exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X units), tenfold. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 1.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+12.3% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.9% per year).

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +23.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, bed-convertible seat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
