Exports from the U.S.

In 2021, the amount of silver ores and concentrates exported from the United States shrank sharply to X tons, which is down by -75.7% compared with 2020 figures. In general, exports recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 362% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silver ore exports dropped dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 236% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for silver ore exports from the United States, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, silver ore exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Africa (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (X kg), with an 8% share.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (-4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, silver ore imports into the United States stood at X kg, almost unchanged from the year before. In general, imports saw a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 35,077% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, silver ore imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 15,613% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
