Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stationery product production dropped modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Africa

In 2022, overseas shipments of stationery products increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stationery product exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. Egypt (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Tunisia (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. Rwanda (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Kenya (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to stationery product exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Rwanda (X%), Kenya (X%) and Tunisia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Egypt (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Tunisia (X p.p.), South Africa (X p.p.), Rwanda (X p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Egypt saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest stationery product supplying countries in Africa were South Africa ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Kenya, Rwanda and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Among the main exporting countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, dropping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Stationery Product Imports

Imports in Africa

In 2022, stationery product imports in Africa soared to X tons, picking up by X% against the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, stationery product imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

It was distantly followed by Angola (X tons) and South Africa (X tons), together comprising a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Cameroon (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons), Central African Republic (X tons), Namibia (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Mozambique (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Botswana (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.

Imports into Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Central African Republic (X%), Cameroon (X%), South Africa (X%), Mozambique (X%), Namibia (X%), Botswana (X%), Angola (X%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%) and Ethiopia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Central African Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tanzania (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
