The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates exports surged to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Peru (X tons) was the main destination for sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates exports from the United States, with a 58% share of total exports. Moreover, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates exports to Peru exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X tons), twofold. Chile (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Peru totaled +5.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+9.0% per year) and Chile (-10.0% per year).

The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Peru stood at +9.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+11.8% per year) and Canada (-2.0% per year).

In general, imports, however, saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports to the United States, with a combined 77% share of total imports. India, Canada, Austria and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +5.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
