Exports by Country

Canada (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main destinations of tyre cord fabric exports from the United States, with a combined 75% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Egypt, India, Spain, Bangladesh and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +176.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of tyre cord fabric of high tenacity yarn imported into the United States soared to X tons, with an increase of 50% against 2020. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Vietnam (X tons) constituted the largest tyre cord fabric supplier to the United States, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, tyre cord fabric imports from Vietnam exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), threefold. Mexico (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Vietnam totaled +5.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+4.5% per year) and Mexico (+8.7% per year).

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tyre cord fabric of high tenacity yarn to the United States, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Vietnam amounted to +2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+2.1% per year) and Mexico (+2.6% per year).

The average tyre cord fabric import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 5.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
