The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +32.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X tons), China (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from the United States, with a combined 42% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Singapore, India, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, France, Spain, Taiwan (Chinese), Brazil and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 49%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +175.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), Canada ($X) and China ($X) were the largest markets for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exported from the United States worldwide, together comprising 42% of total exports. The Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Brazil, France, India, Argentina, Taiwan (Chinese) and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.
Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +153.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 29% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the U.S.
Unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports into the United States was estimated at X tons in 2021, rising by 3.1% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 6.3%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Canada (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports to the United States, together accounting for 95% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Canada (with a CAGR of +1.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons suppliers to the United States were Canada ($X), South Africa ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 91% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 3%.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of -0.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 28% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
