Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Mexico (X tons), Canada (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of unvulcanised rubber exports from the United States, with a combined 82% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mexico (with a CAGR of +10.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for unvulcanised rubber exported from the United States were Mexico ($X), Canada ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 85% share of total exports.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +8.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average unvulcanised rubber export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 6.9%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Unvulcanised Rubber Imports
Imports into the U.S.
In 2021, the amount of unvulcanised rubber imported into the United States surged to X tons, growing by 30% compared with 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Canada (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of unvulcanised rubber to the United States, accounting for a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, unvulcanised rubber imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), fourfold. Mexico (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+73.1% per year) and Mexico (-5.0% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) constituted the largest supplier of unvulcanised rubber to the United States, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 4.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Canada amounted to -1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+77.6% per year) and Mexico (-6.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average unvulcanised rubber import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
