As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Canada (X tons) was the main destination for wood charcoal exports from the United States, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for wood charcoal exports from the United States, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by the Dominican Republic, with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada amounted to +8.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+25.0% per year) and the Dominican Republic (+20.6% per year).

The average wood charcoal export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 43%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, wood charcoal imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest wood charcoal supplier to the United States, with a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, wood charcoal imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Paraguay (X tons), fivefold.
