Flax Fabric Market Size in the U.S.

After ten years of growth, the U.S. flax fabric market decreased by -70.6% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, showed a sharp shrinkage. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Flax fabric exports from the United States skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, surging by 316% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, flax fabric exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Guatemala (X tons) was the main destination for flax fabric exports from the United States, with a 46% share of total exports. From 2020 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada totaled +13.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+46.5% per year) and the UK (+51.1% per year).

In value terms, flax fabric imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 53%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.
