In value terms, aluminium alloy tube exports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 84%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Democratic Republic of the Congo (X kg) was the main destination for aluminium alloy tube exports from Uganda, accounting for a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium alloy tube exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Burundi (X kg), twofold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Democratic Republic of the Congo stood at -36.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (-35.0% per year) and Rwanda (-42.5% per year).
In value terms, Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) remains the key foreign market for aluminium alloy tubes and pipes exports from Uganda, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Burundi ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Democratic Republic of the Congo amounted to -30.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (-47.4% per year) and Rwanda (-37.3% per year).

The average aluminium alloy tube export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -2.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 128% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Uganda
In 2022, supplies from abroad of aluminium alloy tubes and pipes increased by 88% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium alloy tube imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 235%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), China (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of aluminium alloy tube imports to Uganda, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +79.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X) were the largest aluminium alloy tube suppliers to Uganda, with a combined 82% share of total imports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +121.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 79%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
