Kenya (X tons) was the main destination for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports from Uganda, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports to Kenya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X kg), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Rwanda (X kg), with a 3.2% share.

In value terms, the largest markets for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exported from Uganda were Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), Kenya ($X) and Rwanda ($X), with a combined 98% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Kenya, with a CAGR of -4.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In general, the export price faced a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 56%. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+24.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, purchases abroad of citrus fruits not elsewhere classified was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 989% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 885%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Tanzania (X tons) constituted the largest citrus fruits not elsewhere classified supplier to Uganda, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports from Tanzania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kenya (X tons), with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Tanzania stood at +99.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (+70.5% per year) and Kenya (+11.6% per year).
In value terms, Tanzania ($X), Egypt ($X) and Kenya ($X) appeared to be the largest citrus fruits not elsewhere classified suppliers to Uganda, together accounting for 92% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Tanzania, with a CAGR of +119.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for Kenya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
