Cranks And Crankshafts Market Size in Uganda

In 2022, the Ugandan cranks and crankshafts market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. In general, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Uganda

In 2022, the amount of cranks and crankshafts exported from Uganda dropped dramatically to X tons, waning by -44.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,025%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cranks and crankshafts exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 540%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Sudan (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X kg) and Ukraine (X kg) were the main destinations of cranks and crankshafts exports from Uganda, together accounting for 87% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (with a CAGR of +23.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ukraine ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for cranks and crankshafts exports from Uganda, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ukraine amounted to +4.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (-26.7% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (-5.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average cranks and crankshafts export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 200%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Sudan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (-4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Cranks And Crankshafts Imports

Imports into Uganda

In 2022, purchases abroad of cranks and crankshafts decreased by -0.4% to X tons, falling for the fifth year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 86%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cranks and crankshafts imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -11.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 87%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cranks and crankshafts to Uganda, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, cranks and crankshafts imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +8.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-12.9% per year) and India (-13.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), India ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest cranks and crankshafts suppliers to Uganda, together comprising 51% of total imports. Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

Among the main suppliers, Sweden, with a CAGR of +23.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average cranks and crankshafts import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+32.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
