The Ugandan electric oven and cooker market reached $X in 2022, flattening at the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate buoyant growth. Electric oven and cooker consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports from Uganda

Electric oven and cooker exports from Uganda skyrocketed to X units in 2022, with an increase of 104% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 481% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 240% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Rwanda (X units) was the main destination for electric oven and cooker exports from Uganda, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, electric oven and cooker exports to Rwanda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Burundi (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Tanzania (X units), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Rwanda amounted to +5.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (+24.6% per year) and Tanzania (+17.5% per year).

In value terms, Rwanda ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters exports from Uganda, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Burundi ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Rwanda stood at +6.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (+24.1% per year) and Tanzania (+16.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average electric oven and cooker export price amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -1.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 31%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Uganda

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters, when their volume decreased by -2.3% to X units. In general, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Turkey (X units) and South Africa (X units) were the main suppliers of electric oven and cooker imports to Uganda, with a combined 99% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +22.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters to Uganda, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 21% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to +21.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+15.1% per year) and South Africa (-19.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average electric oven and cooker import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 43%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
