Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.

Kenya (X cubic meters) was the main destination for fibreboard exports from Uganda, accounting for a X% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was held by Rwanda (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kenya amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tanzania (X% per year) and Rwanda (X% per year).

In 2022, the average fibreboard export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Uganda

In 2022, fibreboard imports into Uganda reduced sharply to X cubic meters, which is down by X% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fibreboard imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X cubic meters) constituted the largest fibreboard supplier to Uganda, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fibreboard imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal (X cubic meters), fivefold. South Africa (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Portugal (X% per year) and South Africa (X% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fibreboard import price increased by X% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per cubic meter), while the price for India ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
