The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 292%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Kenya (X pairs) was the main destination for exports of footwear with uppers of textile materials from Uganda, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of footwear with uppers of textile materials to Kenya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X pairs), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Sudan (X pairs), with a 15% share.

In value terms, Kenya ($X) remains the key foreign market for footwear with uppers of textile materials exports from Uganda, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a 7.5% share of total exports. It was followed by South Sudan, with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Kenya stood at +7.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Democratic Republic of the Congo (-45.9% per year) and South Sudan (-23.3% per year).

In 2022, the average export price for footwear with uppers of textile materials amounted to $X per pair, growing by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per pair), while the average price for exports to Sudan ($X per pair) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of footwear with uppers of textile materials into Uganda declined remarkably to X pairs, falling by -45.6% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 536%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at X pairs in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of footwear with uppers of textile materials declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1,098%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
