Tanzania (X tons) was the main destination for glass in the mass exports from Uganda, with a 100% share of total exports. It was followed by Kenya (X tons), with a 0.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Tanzania amounted to +44.9%.
In value terms, Tanzania ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass in the mass exports from Uganda, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 0.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Tanzania stood at +60.0%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average glass in the mass export price amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 49%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+10.5%).

Imports into Uganda
Glass in the mass imports into Uganda fell sharply to X tons in 2022, shrinking by -28.4% compared with the year before. In general, imports recorded a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 518%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass in the mass imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 1,579% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, India (X tons) was the main supplier of glass in the mass to Uganda, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, glass in the mass imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from India amounted to +2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-10.9% per year) and Tanzania (-25.3% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of glass in the mass to Uganda, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 17% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India totaled +24.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+13.5% per year) and Tanzania (-4.4% per year).

The average glass in the mass import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 39% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 172%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+28.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
