In value terms, monoammonium phosphate exports skyrocketed to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) was the main destination for monoammonium phosphate exports from Uganda, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) increased by 1.3% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 289% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, monoammonium phosphate imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 240%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Kenya (X tons), Israel (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of monoammonium phosphate imports to Uganda, with a combined 95% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +81.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X) constituted the largest supplier of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) to Uganda, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Israel amounted to +16.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kenya (-5.8% per year) and China (-5.6% per year).
