Non-electric industrial furnace consumption peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Uganda
After seven years of growth, overseas shipments of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens decreased by -6.2% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 540%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace exports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 342% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Tanzania (X units) was the main destination for non-electric industrial furnace exports from Uganda, with a 86% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric industrial furnace exports to Tanzania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X units), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Tanzania amounted to +13.9%.
In value terms, Tanzania ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens exports from Uganda, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Rwanda ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Tanzania amounted to +3.3%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average non-electric industrial furnace export price amounted to $X per unit, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Tanzania amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (-9.3%).
Non-Electric Industrial Furnace Imports
Imports into Uganda
In 2022, the amount of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens imported into Uganda soared to X units, growing by 117% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 479% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 704% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
India (X units), China (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electric industrial furnace imports to Uganda, with a combined 88% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +81.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-electric industrial furnace suppliers to Uganda were India ($X), France ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for 67% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, France, with a CAGR of +66.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average non-electric industrial furnace import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -35.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+61.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
