Oxides Of Boron Market Size in Uganda
The Ugandan oxides of boron market declined slightly to $X in 2022, dropping by -2.8% against the previous year. Exports from Uganda
In 2022, approx. X kg of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids were exported from Uganda; with a decrease of -73.1% on the previous year. Overall, exports recorded a dramatic setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 12,958% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oxides of boron exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a precipitous shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 5,838%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Rwanda (X kg) was the main destination for oxides of boron exports from Uganda, accounting for a 96% share of total exports. Moreover, oxides of boron exports to Rwanda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Rwanda stood at -30.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Democratic Republic of the Congo (-33.3% per year) and Burundi (-50.0% per year).
In value terms, Rwanda ($X) remains the key foreign market for oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids exports from Uganda, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Rwanda totaled -28.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Democratic Republic of the Congo (-17.4% per year) and Burundi (-31.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average oxides of boron export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -14.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 101%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (+38.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uganda
Oxides of boron imports into Uganda fell significantly to X tons in 2022, dropping by -83.1% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 312%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, oxides of boron imports fell notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 125%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of oxides of boron to Uganda, accounting for a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, oxides of boron imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kenya (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-7.3% per year) and Kenya (+9.9% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids to Uganda, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Kenya, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +9.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-6.9% per year) and Kenya (+16.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average oxides of boron import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 12%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Kenya ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
