Room Deodorants Market Size in Uganda

The Ugandan room deodorants market reduced sharply to $X in 2022, declining by -73.5% against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 297%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 218%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

South Sudan (X tons) was the main destination for room deodorants exports from Uganda, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to South Sudan totaled +17.7%.

In value terms, South Sudan ($X) also remains the key foreign market for preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms exports from Uganda.

In 2022, the average room deodorants export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 35%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Sudan.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Sudan amounted to +0.1% per year.

Imports into Uganda

For the third consecutive year, Uganda recorded decline in overseas purchases of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms, which decreased by -66.6% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of room deodorants to Uganda, accounting for a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, room deodorants imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), twofold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from India amounted to -3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+21.2% per year) and China (-13.7% per year).

In value terms, the largest room deodorants suppliers to Uganda were India ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kenya ($X), with a combined 76% share of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +29.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average room deodorants import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
