In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 407% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Kenya (X units) was the main destination for self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck exports from Uganda, accounting for a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck exports to Kenya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X units), threefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kenya totaled +11.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Rwanda (0.0% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (0.0% per year).
In value terms, Kenya ($X) remains the key foreign market for self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor exports from Uganda, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Kenya amounted to +19.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Democratic Republic of the Congo (-13.5% per year) and Rwanda (-44.3% per year).

In 2022, the average self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck export price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -19.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 238% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Self-Propelled Fork-Lift Trucks with Non-Electric Motor
Imports into Uganda
In 2022, the amount of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor imported into Uganda contracted remarkably to X units, which is down by -15.4% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 68% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 96%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck supplier to Uganda, accounting for a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kenya (X units), with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +19.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+32.0% per year) and Kenya (+23.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck suppliers to Uganda were China ($X), the UK ($X) and Sweden ($X), with a combined 68% share of total imports. Kenya, Italy, Ireland, India, France, the United States, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
Among the main suppliers, Kenya, with a CAGR of +51.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the price for Rwanda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
