Vermouth Market Size in Uganda
The Ugandan vermouth market surged to $X in 2022, with an increase of 188% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X litres in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vermouth exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 736%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Rwanda (X litres), Burundi (X litres) and Kenya (X litres) were the main destinations of vermouth exports from Uganda, together accounting for 84% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Rwanda (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Rwanda ($X) remains the key foreign market for vermouth exports from Uganda, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Burundi ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Sudan, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Rwanda amounted to +19.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (-28.4% per year) and Sudan (-23.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average vermouth export price amounted to $X per litre, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 22%. The export price peaked at $X per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sudan ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Vermouth Imports
Imports into Uganda
In 2022, approx. X litres of vermouth were imported into Uganda; picking up by 224% compared with 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a tangible increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, vermouth imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X litres), Italy (X litres) and Germany (X litres) were the main suppliers of vermouth imports to Uganda, with a combined 63% share of total imports. France, Kenya and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.1%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest vermouth suppliers to Uganda were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 71% of total imports. France, Kenya and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.6%.
In terms of the main suppliers, France, with a CAGR of +28.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
The average vermouth import price stood at $X per litre in 2022, dropping by -21.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per litre), while the price for Spain ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
