In 2021, the Ukrainian accordion market decreased by -9.7% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption faced a abrupt shrinkage. In value terms, accordion exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 20,592%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. Exports by Country

Belarus (X units) was the main destination for accordion exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 80% share of total exports. Moreover, accordion exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X units), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belarus amounted to +39.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (-62.1% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (0.0% per year).

Belarus, with a CAGR of +10.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average accordion export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 51% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+189.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After five years of growth, purchases abroad of accordions and mouth organs decreased by -20.8% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, accordion imports rose to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 205%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) constituted the largest supplier of accordion to Ukraine, accounting for a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, accordion imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Indonesia (X units), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates stood at -8.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-14.0% per year) and Indonesia (-4.5% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of accordions and mouth organs to Ukraine, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United Arab Emirates was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-26.2% per year) and China (-8.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average accordion import price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 132%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
