In 2021, shipments abroad of aluminium tube or pipe fittings was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a sharp decrease. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Belarus (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia totaled -26.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (-4.8% per year) and Belarus (+24.1% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for aluminium tube or pipe fittings exports from Ukraine, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Portugal ($X), with a 6.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 5.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia stood at -24.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Portugal (0.0% per year) and Belarus (+23.9% per year).

In 2021, the average aluminium pipe fittings export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, aluminium pipe fittings export price increased by +67.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 56%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.

Imports into Ukraine

Aluminium pipe fittings imports into Ukraine soared to X tons in 2021, jumping by 41% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium pipe fittings imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium pipe fittings to Ukraine, with a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, aluminium pipe fittings imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+28.5% per year) and Poland (-9.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium tube or pipe fittings to Ukraine, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 6.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-7.2% per year) and Germany (-11.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average aluminium pipe fittings import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+31.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
