Antisera Market Size in Ukraine

In 2021, the Ukrainian antisera market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, the total consumption indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports from Ukraine

In 2021, approx. X tons of antisera and other blood fractions were exported from Ukraine; with an increase of 44% against 2020. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, antisera exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 122% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main destinations of antisera exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 58% of total exports. Turkmenistan, India, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Yemen, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands and Moldova lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +718.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for antisera exported from Ukraine worldwide, together accounting for 47% of total exports. Saudi Arabia, India, Turkmenistan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +1,161.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average antisera export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 41% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, antisera export price increased by +13.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+56.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, overseas purchases of antisera and other blood fractions were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -33.7% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 45%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, antisera imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest antisera supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 30% share of total imports. Moreover, antisera imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United States (X tons), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +13.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+62.2% per year) and the United States (-0.5% per year).

In value terms, the largest antisera suppliers to Ukraine were Ireland ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Switzerland, South Korea, China, Sweden, the UK, France, Poland, Spain and Georgia, which together accounted for a further 46%.

Among the main suppliers, Georgia, with a CAGR of +527.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average antisera import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 28% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the price for Georgia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+30.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
