Base Station Market Size in Ukraine
After two years of growth, the Ukrainian base station market decreased by -2.3% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption showed a drastic downturn. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, base station production shrank to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 284% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of base stations, when their volume increased by 5,136% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports recorded buoyant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country
Moldova (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main destinations of base station exports from Ukraine, together comprising 81% of total exports. Thailand, Argentina and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +78.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for base station exported from Ukraine were Brazil ($X), Moldova ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 83% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Argentina, Thailand and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 7.2%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +76.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average base station export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 118%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Base Station Imports
Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, imports of base stations into Ukraine skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 584% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, base station imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of base station to Ukraine, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, base station imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Estonia (X tons), fivefold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled -1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Estonia (-10.9% per year) and the Netherlands (-19.4% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of base stations to Ukraine, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 6% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled -6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+2.1% per year) and the Netherlands (-23.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average base station import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 89%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the price for Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
